זה מקס.
חתול בן 9 שסובל מספר חודשים מהקאות ושלשולים.
הגיע אלי לבדיקה ונמצא בבדיקת אולטראסאונד שיש לו גידול שחוסם את מעבר האוכל במעי הדק.
מקס עבר ניתוח בו הוסר מקטע המעי החסום והגידול נשלח למעבדה לסיווג.
מקס מחלים יפה מהניתוח והפסיק להקיא.

תשובת המעבדה חזרה והגידול לצערי נמצא כסרטני ואנחנו מקווים שעד שיתפרץ שוב, הצלחנו לתת למקס איכות חיים טובה לעוד חצי שנה עד שנה.
ואולי אף יותר.

גידולי מעיים בחתולים:

Adenocarcinoma is the second most frequent malignancy of the feline intestine
(after hemopoietic tumors) 
The mean age is 11 year (2-17 year) and males are more commonly affected
.About 90% of the tumors are in the small intestine, mostly the jejunum and ileum 
.The tumors usually present as annular stenosing masses
By the time the primary tumor is diagnosed there are usually metastases in the mesenteric lymph nodes and peritoneal surfaces

.Ascites occurs is about half of the cases. Metastases to the lung, liver and other organs are rare
Resection of the affected segment has resulted in an average survival time of 15 months
(range 2 days to 2 years. In this study many cats were old and died of concurrent geriatric disease)

.There are reports of cats surviving up to 28 months with mesenteric metastases and carcinomatosis
